Let's Go On A Picnic!

This week's recipe carnival is about picnic ideas. I don't know about you, but is gorgeous here today and with tomorrow being Memorial Day (remember to take a moment to honor the fallen heroes as well all those currently serving), it is a great season to picnic! So get out your picnic basket and try out some of these great recipe ideas!

The Phoenix Blog recommends Texas-Style BBQ and World Famous Recipes also has a BBQ recipe - nothing like BBQ in the fresh air!

I personally recommend my Oriental Chicken Roll Ups for a great picnic lunch.

Nerd Family Food has a wonderful Poppy Seed Salad Dressing that doesn't need to refrigerated - just great for a picnic!

Laura has a great guacamole recipe that she got from her daughter.

Martha at Thrive! has some great fruit recipes to share.

Deb at Increase Metabolism and Live Healthy says that every picnic needs pickles and she tells us how to make our own!

As a great snack, Bill at Famous Recipes sent in Refrigerator Bran Muffins.

For dessert, Kathee at Recipes Recipe sent in Chocolate Almond Bars or you can take these great fried apples from Slow Cooker Recipes.

Our hard-working editor also shares some recipes from the book, Good Day for a Picnic by Jeremy Jackson.

Now for a few additional recipes:
  • Diabetic Recipes has a great Mushroom-Barley Stew you can make on a rainy day and picnic inside!
  • The Expatriate's Kitchen has great brunch ideas if you plan to stay home for this holiday weekend.
  • For something fun and different - Melanie shares how to make Greek Yogurt!
Enjoy this lovely long weekend as summer really takes off! Have a fun day - no matter what you do - with your loved ones.
