I posted about a book was I reading earlier - a mystery series about Laura Fleming by Toni L.P. Kelner. I actually got a comment from the author, so thought I'd post a quick follow up! I really had been unsure of the book, but as I had noted earlier, it was simply hilarous! The ending was well worth it as well! It kept me guessing, but made sense when you got to it. A perfect mystery plot.
I just finished Country Comes to Town over Christmas. That one is set is Boston, rather than in North Carolina, where most of the series takes place. I enjoyed the story, but I missed both Laura's Southern family and her husband, Richard (who was in England). The Burnette's (Laura's family) really make this series - they are just wonderful! I love mystery series for their characters and this group definitely takes the cake! I think my favorite scene is at the end of the book when Richard is talking to Laura on the phone and they are discussing revenge motives and Richards says "Revenge is a dish best served cold." While Richard always quotes Shakespeare, but this is actually from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, which cracks Laura up in the book (and of course me!).
I read Trouble Looking for a Place to Happen a few months ago. I was SO proud of myself - I actually figured out the ending way before Laura did! I really liked the entire plot and of course, the family was wonderful!
Tight as a Tick is fun because it deals with Laura's Aunt Maggie's flea market friends, which gives us a whole slew of new characters, but we still get to see all our old friends. I'm currently reading Wed and Buried, which also centers around Aunt Maggie.
It has been slow going in this series for me because finding the books is difficult as they are all out of print. But hey, it gives me something to look for at all those used bookstores I'm addicted to!
